I happened to be visiting Kielder Observatory on the day it was announced that Northumberland National Park was awarded Gold Tier Dark Sky Status.
To me, this beautiful trinket of our Moon captured on that cold winter’s night will always be a fitting tribute to hearing that momentous news.

Just received the Kielder Moon for my wedding anniversary but it’s also a nice reminder of a visit to Kielder Observatory on a frosty December night, -7 Degrees with the Milky Way in all its glory.
