Welcome to The Refuge.
In a world of runaway AI and rampant corporate surveillance, The Refuge is a small social platform free of ads and algorithms, which has matured into a safe place to share thoughts and findings during such difficult social, economic and environmental times.
The platform is public and free to use but you’ll need to register to take part.
Donations help with its upkeep (such as hosting fees).
Once registered, you’ll find there are many features common to other social platforms, so it should be pretty self-explanatory.
These are just some of the features:
- upload a profile photo
- upload a cover photo
- follow and connect with other community members
- post in the news feed
- edit posts
- share photos and videos
- edit privacy of posts (Jack’s are generally set to members only)
- send and receive direct messages
The Refuge: topics for discussion
Climate and biodiversity breakdown were Jack’s initial motivations for building this space.
But since then, he’s come to realise that our predicament is much more severe and all-encompassing.
So, feel free to start sharing your thoughts, findings and comments that you think will help other members within this context.
Topics not for discussion
In the spirit of guidance rather than rules, this isn’t a space to share any old thing. There are plenty of other places for that!
Nor is it a platform for overt self-promotion and selling of wares.
There will likely be exceptions, of course, but those bridges can be crossed as and when they arise.
Any questions?
If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to get in touch by sending Jack a direct message in the community space or via the form on the Contact Jack page.
